"What are the rules about biting in the World Cup?" he asked TMZ. "There probably should be one. Biting has no place in sports." When the interviewer asked if Mike Tyson should be the last athlete to be able to get away with masticating his opponent, Springsteen said, "That was the last bite," and laughed.
Asked when Jersey would get its own sports team, other than the Devils, the smiling E Street Band frontman said with a laugh, "I don't know. I always make a joke and say, 'Where do the Giants play? Where do the Jets play?'" And as for where Springsteen thinks LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony would end up following free agency, he said, "I'm a big fan of the [Miami] Heat and [team president] Pat Riley. But I don't know enough about it to know where they're going."
And, finally, TMZ asked, would Bruce Springsteen want to take "a page out of Bon Jovi's book and owning a team or creating a team"? Without pause, Springsteen said, "No. Rock & roll is hard enough."
In other recent news, Springsteen joined the Rolling Stones in Lisbon, Portugal for a performance of their Exile on Main Street song "Tumbling Dice" in late May. Previously, he joined the band on that same song in 2012 at the Stones' New Jersey gig.
