People: Springsteen's daughter an equestrian star in London

She was Born in the USA, but she's rubbing elbows with the high society of England.

Bruce Springsteen's 19-year-old daughter Jessica, a nationally ranked equestrian, won first place in show jumping over the weekend at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, according to London's Daily Mail.

The Boss and wife Patti Scialfa watched the four-day event, held at Windsor Castle, in the queen's backyard.

Surprisingly, Jessica started riding only four years ago at the age of 15 at Stonehill Farm in New Jersey, where they raised horses.

Jessica, who was in close view of the Queen and Duchess of Cornwall, said after the event, "It was a lot of fun. I love this show. The atmosphere is amazing. You just don't get shows like this in America where you can see so much in the same place."

The Boss, 61, and Patti have been married for 20 years this June and have two other children, sons Evan, 21 and Sam, 17.

Last year Jessica became one of the best young equestrians in the country by winning the $25,000 G&C Farm Young Riders Grand Prix in Wellington, Fla. Jessica was the only rider to go double-clear, and did it twice on two different horses, placing first and second.

Meanwhile, across the Pond in Springsteen's native New Jersey, a bust of the singer was unveiled at Asbury Park where it will stay for five months.

Springsteens rock the crowd at Windsor

The paparazzi were out in force at Royal Windsor Horse Show (11-15 May), on the look out not only for The Queen, but also the legendary US rockstar Bruce Springsteen.

"The Boss", who cheerily waved to fans, was at Windsor supporting his 19-year-old daughter, Jessica, who is making her mark on the showjumping circuit.

Jessica is based with US Olympic gold medallist Laura Kraut in Warwickshire for the summer, before she returns to the US for college in the autumn.

It was her first time competing in the UK and she told H&H that she "loved it".

She finished joint first in her first attempt at a six-bar riding Vornado Van Den Howendrik, alongside fellow US rider Catherine Pasmore on Vandavid and Britain's Tim Stockdale and Fresh Direct K2.

"The six-bar was so much fun — and it's great to win here. It's so lovely, especially with the castle in the background, and there's so much to see — it's great to be able to go around to the other rings. It's not like this at shows in America," added Jessica.

Tim Stockdale was impressed. "I saw her jumping in New York when she was about 15 or 16 and thought she was an excellent rider then. It's also a great boost for the sport having Bruce there, making headlines in newspapers, and I think a few people turned up just to see him. But she's a good rider in her own right, regardless of having a famous father," he said.

Jessica also finished fifth in the Martin Collins Equine Services grade A class aboard the same horse. She will soon set off on a young riders Nations Cup tour in Europe, before coming back to compete at the British Masters event at South View, Cheshire, in July.

"Jessica is very talented and I have high hopes for her," said Laura Kraut. "She's an outstanding rider and hopefully she'll make a great addition to the US team. She did very well at Windsor, she wasn't fazed at all."

Wer weiß, wenn sie so weitermacht ist sie vielleicht demnächst auch in Aachen dabei.

Genau das denke ich auch seit ich höre, wie gut sie reitet. Dann spätestens würde ich mal hingehen und ihr zuschauen, und jubeln, wenn sie fehlerfrei durchgekommen ist. Stellt Euch mal so eine Reitsportübertragung im Fernsehen vor, wo ihr Name so ganz lapidar unter anderen genannt wird, weil diese Reitsportleute gar kein Interesse daran haben, wer ihr berühmter Vater ist. Für die Reitsportscene ist er völlig unbekannt, aber Jessica könnte eine Hausnummer werden, mit der man rechnen muß.

So, Ihr Schockemöhles und Beerbaums, zieht Euch schon mal warm an....!

Hat aber bestimmt einige gute Pferde zur Auswahl

Das stimmt sicher, da hat sie natürlich die bestern Voraussetzungen, aber auch die besten Pferde nützen nichts, wenn man sie nicht reiten kann.

Stimmt. Schauen wir mal, wie Moorlands Totilas demnächst vorgestellt wird.

Da bin ich auch mal gespannt, wie er unter Rath geht. Habe das noch nicht gesehen. Der erste Turnierstart wurde ja verschoben oder? Ok, das ist jetz ein bisschen ot.....
