From Stan Goldstein: "Wednesday, Aug. 21 Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, set list Lights out: 7:34 p.m. First note: 7:36 p.m. 1. Atlantic City I believe this was only the third time Bruce opened with this, the others being the 2003 Atlantic City show and the May 25, 2016 show in Manchester, England. 2. Lonesome Day 3. Night 4. No Surrender 5. Ghosts 6. Workin' On The Highway An audible, Letter to You was on the printed set list 7. The Promised Land 8. Spirit In The Night 9. Hungry Heart 10. Youngstown 11. Long Walk Home "This is a prayer for our country" 12. E Street Shuffle 13. Nightshift 14. Streets of Philadelphia (Tour Premiere) 15. Racing In The Street Roy's piano playing at the end, there are no words for how F****** good this was. Really got me tonight, the tears just started to flow, I gave it an 11 on a scale of 1-10. 16. Last Man Standing Bruce talked a little bit more on the introduction than usual. Mentioned Freehold sits between Philadelphia and New York and he got both the New York and Philadelphia TV stations. Channel 6 got a big cheer from the crowd. "You guys (Philadelphia) used to have all those teen shows after school from the Steel Pier in Atlantic City and American Bandstand, Philly was a heavy music town, a heavy music town!" Bruce dedicated the song to George Theiss' wife, Dee, who was in attendance. 17. Backstreets 18. Because The Night 19. She's The One 20. Wrecking Ball Bruce had a lot of fun with the Meadowlands and "Giants" part as the crowd booed. He the said "Eagles" to cheers. 21. The Rising 22. Badlands 23. Thunder Road Encores: 24. Born To Run 25. Rosalita Returns for the first time since April in the U.S. 26. Bobby Jean 27. Dancing In The Dark 28. Tenth Ave Freeze Out 29. Twist and Shout 30. I'll See You In My Dreams Bruce: "Also want to apologize for our postponement from last summer. It took awhile but we got here. I want to thank you for your patience and your loyalty. We've had such great audiences in Philadelphia for the entire live of our band. Thank you very much. I'm going to send this one out tonight to Dee Theiss and and in memory of my nephew, Michael Shave." Show over at 10:44 p.m. for a 3:09 show. My first Bruce show since April and this is more of an emotional report as I didn't take any notes. A beautiful night with almost autumn like weather, in the low 60s and later a full moon came over the stadium. It's 1:30 a.m as I type this and damn, Bruce makes me feel like I am 16 again. My first Bruce show was 48 years ago and tonight was just as good as any show I have ever seen. Maybe it's just the appreciation I have for Bruce and the E Street Band and how they are still doing this for 50-plus years ... they are still the greatest show on earth. Bruce was in fine form, his voice was great, he was having a lot of fun and he played up quite a bit that he was in Philadelphia and the crowd responded. Just a perfect night, I don't usually cry at Bruce shows, but tonight I did several times. Thank you Bruce, thank you E Street Band. The older you get, the more is means." |

Greetinx, S. |
