Today, the first day of rehearsals of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band is Asbury Park wasn't "Radio Nowhere" it was radio playing very loudly!
Speakers were placed on both the south and north sides of Convention Hall and in the front entrance to the Hall blasting radio station WJLK 94.3 FM out of Asbury Park.
This was obviously done so the fans outside on the beach and boardwalk would not be able to hear Bruce and the band rehearse.
The band started playing early today, around 9 a.m.
Someone who was there early said they did get to hear four songs before the speakers started blasting WJLK.
The four songs played early were:
1. Prove It All Night.
2 Promised Land
3. Darkness on the Edge of Town
4. Lonesome Day

I didn't actually hear these songs as I didn't arrive until 10 a.m.
By then the speakers were blasting WJLK.
Some fans did manage to hear a bit on the beach.
Among the songs worked on today were:
"I'll Work For you Love," "You'll be Coming Down," "Radio Nowhere," and "Livin' In the Future."
The band stopped playing around 1 p.m.
Steven Van Zandt was the first to leave and quickly followed by Max Weinberg.
Clarence then left and did sign a quick two autographs for two guys who had albums, one was a CC and the Red Bank Rockers album.
Saw Garry Tallent, Soozie Tyrell, and then Danny Federici and Roy Bittan leave.
Bruce left about 3 p.m. He didn't not stop to sign autographs but did drive down the ramp slowly and gave the fans a couple of waves.
I guess it's all right for me, even as a guy, to say he looked pretty good and in great shape.
About 30 people hanging around total. Not that big of a crowd. Everyone was disappointed that they weren't able to hear, but then again, maybe Bruce doesn't want anyone to hear the band working on new material for now.

Well the big news today was that they changed the radio station.
Instead of listening to 94.3 The Point, we got to hear WHTG 106.3 FM (G-Rock, Jersey's rock alternative).
Speakers are still out, still loud, drowning out all music from inside.
People could make out a little of what was rehearsed inside. Some of the songs heard were "Something In The Night," "Incident on 57th Street," "Night," "You'll Be Comin' Down," and "Last to Die."
And when I say heard, it was just little snippets here or there.
Smaller group than yesterday, 25 people at the most.
Everything finished by 1 p.m.
Max Weinberg stopped quickly to sign a few autographs and take some pictures. Little Steven also stopped quickly for pictures.
Bruce left at 2 p.m, didn't stop but did wave to everyone again.

A beautiful day at the Jersey Shore brought out about 40 people to Asbury Park's Convention Hall for the third day of rehearsals by Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band.
The speakers were out again, playing radio station 106.3 FM, but they weren't playing as loudly today and parts of songs could be heard
My thanks to Glenn for filling me in on songs played before I got there.
Before Bruce arrive, Roy and Soozie were working on parts of "Your Own Worst Enemy."
They then worked on:
1. "Waiting on a Sunny Day"
2. Empty Sky (full band version, did it several times).
3. Rising
4. Radio Nowhere
5. You'll Be Comin' Down
6. Gypsy Biker
7. I'll Work For Your Love
8. Last To Die
9. Girls In Their Summer Clothes
10. Long Walk Home
11. Devils Arcade
They worked on the ending guitar parts a few times.

Everything done by 1 p.m.
Patti was at rehearsals today although she did leave early.
Steve Van Zandt did stop for a few pictures again. He did sign one autograph.
Max Weinberg also stopped for quick autographs as did Soozie Tyrell and Garry Tallent.
Bruce left early, about 1:30 p.m., he again did not stop to sign anything but did wave.
One other note: in an informal poll of people on the boardwalk, Jerry Fox is a saint by a landslide.
