Im Mai 2023 erlitt Jesse Malin einen seltenen Schlaganfall, der ihn von der Hüfte abwärts lähmte. Malin, der sich seit Langem für die Belange anderer einsetzt, ist all den Musikern dankbar, die sich um ihn geschart haben, inkl. Bruce Springsteen, Billie Joe Armstrong, Lucinda Williams und Elvis Costello, The Hold Steady, Tommy Stinson, Alison Mossheart mit dem mittlerweile verstorbenen Wayne Kramer, Tom Morello, Counting Crows, Dinosaur Jr., The Wallflowers, Spoon, Susanna Hoffs, Frank Turner, Rancid und vielen mehr. Das von Sam Harris gestaltete Dreifach-Vinyl-Set ist in einem 3-seitigen Gatefold untergebracht und enthält Fotos von Vivian Wang sowie Linernotes von David Fricke. “This record is a dynamite and long-overdue awareness project, non-stop star time in vigorously personal twists on behalf of a great rock & roll songbook,” writes longtime supporter, David Fricke. In May 2023, Jesse Malin suffered a rare spinal stroke that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Last December, Malin told Rolling Stone, “I have a lot of anxiety and insomnia. Your mind goes into some dark places. But I just have to keep a positive outlook and believe.” He is now undergoing a strict daily regimen with physical therapy and stem-cell treatments. "I am getting some strength back in my legs, but it moves a lot slower than I would like. I don’t want to portray it like I'm ready to do the James Brown splits onstage. I definitely have a long way to go, but I'm blessed and so grateful for the amazing fans and friends that I have.” Fricke adds, “Jesse Malin knows about scars – from his youth, observation and more. They all carry tales, and he's not done telling them. Silver Patron Saints is the gang back at the bar, coming to the stage to toast the composer and his story so far.” Long a contributor to other people’s causes, Malin is grateful to all the musicians who have rallied around him. Housed in a 3-page book gatefold jacket, the triple-vinyl set designed by Sam Harris features photos by Vivian Wang and liner notes by David Fricke. Am 1. und 2. Dezember 2024 finden 2 Benefizkonzerte im Beacon Theatre in New York statt, bei denen zwar Bruce nicht dabei ist, aber doch so große Namen wie Lucinda Williams, Jakob Dylan, Willie Nile und Adam Duritz (Counting Crows) ... und es ist ein Jesse Malin Konzert für den 1. "My new single, Argentina, is out now. Not only is this the first song I’ve written and recorded in a very long time, it’s also one of the most personal ones. It was tricky being in a country for six months where I couldn’t speak the language and couldn’t walk. Far away from home and not wanting to fade away, I was holding onto my guitar and trying to keep my head up. I took inspiration from a high school ring worn by my dear and departed close friend, Steve Poss, who was my classmate and comrade in the New York Hardcore scene. Jimmy G flew down to Buenos Aires to personally deliver to me, and it became a symbol of faith.
