Ida Z. Urbelis

Ida Z. Urbelis, 90, best known as "Eda" passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Ida was born on July 29, 1922 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. She resided in Freehold for nearly 80 years and worked as a hair stylist for over 50 years until retiring from Macy's hair salon in Eatontown, at the age of 86. Ida was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Freehold.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Frank A. and Elizabeth G. Bruno of Manalapan; grandchildren, Elizabeth B. Danyluk and her husband Michael of Red Bank, Christine Bruno of Bradley Beach, Kerri B. Engley and her husband Aaron of Alexandria, VA, Frank Bruno, Jr. and his wife Tracey of Wilmington, NC; six great-grandchildren, Emerson, Ava, Roman, Raffaela, Finn and Isabel; her sister, Adele Z. Springsteen; and many loving nieces and nephews. Ida was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Peter Bruno, a US Army Sgt. who served in WWII and was killed in action, May 11, 1945; her second husband, Eugene Urbelis who also served in WWII and was a police officer in Freehold Borough and died in October 1977; her parents, Anthony and Adelina Zerilli; and sister, Dora Z. Kirby.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Friday, Dec. 21st, from 4:30 to 7:00 PM, at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 22nd, at 12:30 PM, at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to Meridian Hospice, 1345 Campus Parkway, Suite 2A, Neptune, NJ 07753.
