Zitat: BROWNE ANNOUNCES RED BANK BENEFIT
Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 05/6/07 BY CHRIS JORDAN GANNETT NEW JERSEY Legendary rocker Jackson Browne is playing a series of benefit concerts in June, and one show hits especially close to home for Jersey Shore fans: a fundraiser for Joan Dancy and PALS (People with ALS) at the Two River Theater in Red Bank on June 12. Tickets, $200-$350, go on sale 11 a.m. Wednesday through the theater's box office and phone charge only. There is a two-ticket limit per customer with a strict, will-call-only pick-up policy. Tickets will be picked up on the night of show only. No tickets will be mailed or picked up prior to the show. Dancy is the late fiance of Bruce Springsteen's longtime personal manager, Terry Magovern. Dancy died in 2005 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease. PALS seeks to "help and provide assistance, services, and programs that support ALS patients and their families, to live and enjoy as full and as normal a life as possible," according to a mission statement on the group's Web site, joandancyandpals.com. A PALS benefit in December at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank brought out Springsteen and others for the cause. Browne also will perform at the World Hunger Year Awards show June 11 at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City. He has been associated with the Jersey Shore since his legendary 1977 live album, "Running on Empty," which was partially recorded at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, then named the Garden State Arts Center. Two River Theater is at 21 Bridge Ave. More information is available by calling (732) 345-1400 or visiting trtc.org. |
